Just rolled over 115,000 miles! Started with 112,600.
1,500 miles on oil change and has only needed a half a quart. Not bad.
Working on getting jailbreak tune squared away.

She's going under the knife!!
-Diff seals
-Diff bushings
-CSB
-Flex disc
-Front and rear brakes- Centric rotors with Akebono low dust pads
-Oil change
-Changing Z3M shifter to E60
Probably going to use this opportunity to do electric cutouts after the resonators for a muffler delete.
How she sits..

Yeaah! An M5 part out thread!
My goodness, that is a MASSIVE garage. I need something like that!

Thinking about the electric cutout too, after I get the headers installed.
Meh .... me no like any fancy electric cutouts for exhaust system.
I like my muffler delete plenty. Light weight also.
Any plans to reinforce the subframe front diff mount? You look into the Jed solid aluminum mounts? Should really eliminate any future movements.

Wished those solid mounts were available around the time when I was refreshing my suspension ....
Yes. It has Einsenmann exhaust now, but I want a muffler delete on command hence the electric cutouts.

I don't know if I'll be dropping the rear subframe yet.
There's no rush on this project so we'll see what happens!

How do you keep that garage heated with no insulation, being in Cape Cod? What a great benefit to wrenching, though.

When I'm working in the cold, I set my tools on top of an electric radiator.
Having warm tools makes working in the cold SOOOOO much less sucky.
I try to run the engine in one of my cars for a while and then I put the car in the garage with the hood open. I did that with my 03 M-Sport while working on a forum member's timing chain guides, and my M62tu heated his garage up nicely.

Annoying that none of my pics are loading. I think I took them from facebook so that's probably why.
Anyway, made some good progress tonight. (Following pics hosted from Photobucket so they'll stay!)
How we started tonight:
Started working on pulling the rear section of the exhaust and realized the rear bumper had to come off. What a PITA! E34 rear bumper was leagues easier. Fortunately I didn't have to pull the whole trunk apart to get to the 6x 13mm headed bolts. I just removed the CD changer and was able to use a 3/8 air ratchet on 4/6 and then a ratcheting 13mm on the last two.
Diffuser mount is broken
At this point the exhaust was ready to slide off the cats. Undid all the hangers, had the jack under the resonator, and had the 3rd row for my suburban under the mufflers. Then just pulled it right off and out from under.
And that's how we left it! Hopefully tomorrow night the diff can come out.
Here's the two reasons for this whole job..
All for now.

Don't understand why you had to remove the bumper to get to or drop the muffler. I never had to on mine nor on any E39.
M5 Jed on M5Board made a couple of solid billet made aluminum for the front diff bushing. Maybe you might want to have a look at it. With the new OEM bushing you will have to use the special tool to press the old one out and press the new one in.

Those are stock mufflers right? Once you get all the hardware out it's just a matter of wiggling it and it will eventually drop down. That's how I dropped mine during my suspension rebuild.
