Hey everyone, I wanna just keep this simple as possible I have about $6000 to spend on a car. I initially had about 13k and was going to buy a 335i I had been waiting on for a year but had to give some away because my pop needed it. Family first always but anyway I was wondering if some one could point me into the right direction of where to go my budget is $6000 I just want a somewhat quick car that's gonna be fun doesn't have to be flashy or anything like that. Maybe if someone is willing to sell a e36 that's been maintained? Idk. Doesn't have to be an M. Seeing if anyone can help. Thank you !!
I would definitely suggest trying to find a nice 328is. I recently purchased one for a project car, it turns out in it's stock configuration it is a hoot to drive. Zippy, good handling and everything is perfectly placed. An M3 is certainly a step up but it seems that the days of the super cheap e36 M3 are coming to an end pretty quickly.

B5S4 would be nice. Not a go kart like an E36M3, but a comfortable cruiser. I like turbo torque. Expensive to maintain. Not sure what I would buy for $6k. A nice E36M3 sedan if I got lucky and found one for that price.
I say pick up a 328i, they are dirt cheap. I've had several e36's (m and non-m) and throw a LSD rear end and sort out the maintenance and suspension and the 328i is just as fun to drive, almost
CBlock
I have both an e36 328i I've have for 12 years and now a 98 e36 M3. Both sedans. Biggest difference driving them in stock form is M3 3rd 4th and 5th gear is stronger. 1st and 2nd in 328 feels strong. Also the M has quicker turn in and less body roll but slap an M suspension or coils on the 328 and you're good. On the track they're both equally fun. The 328 is the next best thing to an M3.
