    New (to us) BMW

Hi guys. I have just purchased a 2006 325 for the missis and she loves it. It's in new condition with 80k miles. We just needed a 5 door as she is expecting in November and my A5 coupe isn't any good for baby seat and I refuse to change my pride and joy. Just wondered what problems we can expect to see in the future and any hidden tricks it might have or things we can do to it??

Mainly a cooling system overhaul, waterpump/thermostat, if it hasn't been done already. Then the typical leaks as they arise, valve cover, oil filter housing, oil pan, rear main. Spark plugs also if they haven't been done. Lastly, the typical suspension wear that comes around 100k.

Really depends on how the car has been kept up with really. Another factor will be if you plan to DIY, goto the dealer, or an independent shop for repairs. In most cases it's the labor that will get you although the waterpump/thermostat can be a decent chunk of change too.

    This is all good info.
    I concur.

Maybe the occasional door latch/lock issue, as they can fail... but its a small issue.
A fresh battery in the car as well never hurts.

with that kind of mileage you my friend shouldn't have to worry about much for another 20 thousand miles or so. Just keep up with oil changes every 4-4500 full synthetic new filter than you should fine. As far as little maintenance goes, I'd do the spark plugs the iridium laser ngk set, check your intake boots and hoses and thats about it for now. I have 146k miles and runs like a brand new car so you have a very low mile car that should last you if taken care of well upwards of 300k

You will take the bmw for a spin and end up ditching the aldi haha.

Seriously its just been run in for you.

Great cars, the best, welcome to the addiction. They never age, see all sorts round my way, some 30 years old, look simply stunning and boy some of those older ones have some grunt!

    Keep it standard, hate mods
