For sale is a 1994 525iT in Alpine white. This car started out its life as an automatic m50 and has been transformed into the ultimate grocery-getter / burnout machine!
Asking Price: $13,000 obo
Looks like a clean touring just wanting to go get groceries and pick up the kids:
Still looks very innocent:
It fits in so well on a quiet street, when parked.....
That is weird, I never knew BMW made a 553....
Lots of trunk space for groceries.... or tires..
Only giveaway is the gauge pod on the dash..
Open the hood, and you will see...
LSX Engine... But wait... There is more... There is also a turbo under there...
Full build documentation:
Here are the highlights on the car:
Engine:
2005 GM L33 5.3 Aluminum Block
Z06 Cam
6.0 L Heads
Turbo:
MP T70 Turbo with twin ATI high flow intercoolers
LSD:
Large case 3.64 LSD from BMW 750
Trans:
Tremec T56 6 speed manual
Brake Booster:
Ford Mustang Hydroboost
As with any older car there are a few blemishes, scratches and such. The interior is in good shape with no rips or tears. The headliner on the first section of the sunroof panel is missing.
The car has fully functioning AC as part of the swap, but the corvette AC compressor seized last summer and would need to be replaced. The system is still fully charged and does not leak.
It is sad to sell this car, but it does not get to be driven as much as it should be. I hope it goes to another enthusiast that will drive it and appreciate the amount of power this thing has, as well as further potential!
PM me for further information. The car is located in Northern New Jersey about an hr outside of NYC.
Good lord! So merch want. GLWS
That front bumper is hideous, but the car looks like fun.
GLWS.
my version of a midlife crisis: 20 year old spray painted, lowered BMW station wagon.
The front bumper wouldn't look so bad if the lowers were painted to match. The low white chin with the black rockers and rear bumper makes it look like Jay Leno. White with a huge chin.
Is that shift knob off a late 70s/ mid 80s honda?
Go ahead and bite. Plenty for everyone.
I wondered when this car would resurface, was it ever tuned properly?
Cool swap. Execution is not so good though. Front bumper, gages, shifter/knob, and engine bay fit/finish kill it for me. The t56 shifter sweeps to the left towards the driver. The knob is likely a factory Camaro knob of sorts. The t56 pattern is strange so knobs with the correct pattern have to come from t56 cars (reverse is up next to 5th, so in 7th gear position). The 750 also never came with a 3.64 ratio, so not sure what its actually got in there. The t56 and e34 tire size tend to like a 3.64/3.73, so it may be accurate.

According to this, the 750 did indeed get a large 3.64

ahhh yes you are correct sir. The later cars did in fact get the 3.64 ratio, though it was never a LSD, so im not sure how he did that. Maybe he mated a 3.15 with the 3.64? http://www.vinesauto.com/diffratio.htm
