After selling my e46 m3 last summer I picked up a very clean 4 door bare bones 330 sport package with the intention of using it as a family hauler/HPDE car.
After chatting with a long time friend Dcvee(aka E30 M3 hoarder) he said he might be interested in selling his 3/94 95 m3 that he was prepping for a turbo track car. When I first thought about purchasing this car I was going to swap in some schrick 272/270 cams with many other odds and ends to try and get most of the very healthy s50. I then was chatting with Mike R of Max Psi, and he mentioned that he had several s54's laying around the shop. I purchased the swap harness kit via this thread. http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=275468

Now on to the s54. Schrick 280/272's are in and timed.
The ebay headers are a tight fit.
Ahhh I forgot to post what the rod bearings looked like on this lovely motor.
First Start up.
Now the first few pulls on the dyno.
According to Mike R of Max Psi, and Jordan of RK tunes the intake and exhaust are choking power. Some more adjustments/tweaks coming next week.

nice driveshaft...errr...what's left of it. Looks like the turbos caused a lot of sadness...lol.. what's the day build of your alpine? I also have a 3/94 (built 31st of March) cosmos which I'm about to part out.

I LOVE YOU MAN! Let me know if you need any parts or just some garage company, because I'll be up by you a few times over the summer.

They'll be coming soon.
Yes the gallery of sadness is a great reminder of what can happen. I'm not certain of date, but this is my second 3/94 e36 m3. My first 1 also was a cosmos. I love the adjustable steering column. Pm me what you are parting out. I was thinking about adding a carpet for those days when it rains.
Will do bud. Grant also said he'll be visiting NYC a few times this summer. I'm thinking about maybe having a custom exhaust done since the current 1 was basically thrown together to be able to drive the car with the s50 to Max Psi from the Wizard of PA's place. Anyone looking for a AA track pipe, and I believe a UUC cat back?

how much is the labor for a swap like this?
Depends on what else you're having done during the swap, so I wouldn't be able to tell you honestly. I had all the vano's fixes done along with rod bearings, oil pump chain, and other odds and ends. You can contact sales@maximumpsi.com to get a better idea.

How much did you pay for a S54? I'm in NYC I also want one
Nice power. About the same as a poor running S65.
Awesome! I wouldn't mind an S54 at all!

E92M3 weighs 3500-3700 lbs stock. E36M3 weighs 3100-3200 lbs sock. E92M3 weighs about 500 lbs more than an E36M3. If you want to compare non stock cars, the difference can remain the same. There are some E92M3 that are down to 3200 lbs and there are some E36M3 that are down to 2700 lbs.

That is why I wrote your E36M3 will have better power to weight ratio than an E92M3.
Makes me miss my old alpine warrior. Looking forward to the updates its about time e36 has an s52 member leading the way.
BTW, what hi temp paint is on your calipers I need to do the same asap..?

I like where this is going!! Subbed! Lmk if you're around Bergen county area, my e36 s54 swap is pretty much complete. Will be breaking in the wpc bearings and going down to ttfs for a dyno tune.
I've read by some people that the S54 doesn't have as good throttle response as engines like the euro-S50.
Is there any truth to this?
If so, is it due to the drive by wire? or a limitation having to do with the swap?

So the adapter harness makes the s54 plug and play with the s52 ecu? What else needs modification?

Yes, but using the s54 Mcoupe harness allows for the Ecu to be installed in the stock location. Had I remember that I would've purchased it, but Max Psi relocated the ecu inside the cabin of the car. Others make a box, and install it under the intake manifold. Not a great spot.
