The Z3 design is now over 20 years old...

First prototypes appeared in late 1994.

Such a timeless beauty to the design.

Agreed. A Z3 rolling by will always catch my eye.

    4 BMWs.
It's not really aged aesthetically at all.

Honestly, you could have told me that pic was taken after a wash and wax at your house just this past weekend. It definitely has held it's own. A timeless piece to be noticed. (I think that's why I look back about 6 times after I park, every time, the car's lines never gets straight and it never get's old......)

I first fell in love when I saw this rich guy I'd seen around driving one, he always had the most awesome cars worth a helluva lot more than the z3 but for some reason the Z3 always stood out for me! Hmmm, what was his name..., shoot it's been so long I can't remember. Anyways, I have been in love with the Atlanta Blue Z3 ever since

I guess it's like the Shelby Cobra 289 and the Shelby Cobra 427 when it comes to the narrow body roadster and the widebody roadsters. One is svelte and "pure" while the other is brutish and garners attention. Both timeless.

Just kidding, they are both ugly. Coupes for lyfe.

I thought it might be neat to splice together two sets of non-M gills. Remove the roundel and add another gill or two in place.

That nails it. I've always favored the Cobra with the baby Windsor. Maybe that points to my appreciation of the narrow body Z3 too.

Retro-styling will do that to a design; but you're right!

I was out yesterday in Sue's X5 (welding gas cylinders and a set of 4 freshly powder-coated wheels/tires are a little much for any of the ///Ms__even the Coupe) and spotted a Z4 (top up, dirty wheels, chick sitting ON the steering wheel) and thought that it already looked dated.

The Z4 was so edgy when it was introduced, but that fad is history now. I believe the current generation (retractable hdtp models) will age more gracefully, like our beloved Z3s are doing.

Now that's an idea worth pursuing, seems I've seen them on eBay for not much money__and you already know a guy with a plastic welder (in fact I need to break it out SOON to fix Eric's Estoril Blue rear bumper, which I'll have to paint afterwards...).

I'm not sure the extra openings might have too much vertical line and be too busy, but it is worth a try. I like just filling the roundel opening on the darker colored car. I think it extends the look of the hood quite a bit. Welding in some ABS would work better than filling the opening with bondo.

Mind the poor quality but I don't like the look of too many slats. I like the roundel delete though

I agree with you. One more slat might work. Two looks crowded.

Still kind of "meh" for me but it does seem to fill the negative left by the roundel delete. I'm not a fan of the shark gills anyways though but some may like this look

Agree 100%, it was timeless. The Z3 and Z8 will be never duplicated

The z3 body will never go out of style. Timeless.

I pulled up next to a lady driving a Z4 and she asked me if my car was the new version of hers. "No ma'am, it is a 98 model with nearly 200,000 miles on it." I am sure I had a huge smile on my face.

Nobody believes me when I tell them my car is 15 years old. Some idiots even ask me if its the new Z4. I say "NO!!! It's a Z3 dammit!!!" And walk away shaking my head.
