    My S52 Not-So-Budget turbo build

I'm just about finished sourcing parts for this build. There's still a foot of snow in my yard and it was 7F this morning but warmer temps are on the way so my carport is about to be a bee hive of activity. I may get some flack for some of my choices on this build but I tried to stay true to my goals of the quickest spool without sacrificing too much up top. With the exception of my $17 ebay catch can, I tried to buy the highest quality parts possible. So I went with genuine Bosch injectors instead of $100 ebay injectors. No cutting corners to save $20 on a $7000 build. I bought almost all new parts but I got a good deal on a few quality used parts. I went with a genuine Garrett GT35r and a T4 .63AR turbine housing. Quick spool and Garrett reliability. Not many people list all the parts and prices. All those little fittings and gaskets and hoses....... it all adds up. So for the benefit of anyone considering a turbo build......

Special thanks to Butters for his patience and advice.

I'm pulling the engine this week. Here's my list so far

Don't forget to add a clutch into that list. The F1 stage 3 should suit your needs.

I can provide you with a fuel pump , and some of the other misc stuff . you will have to come over one day and raid my bins.

Sorry I forgot that. I already have a clutch that I was supposed to install when I had my Supercharger.

Finally! Another turbo BMW to add to Vermont! I think that puts us at 3 that I know of. Let me know how that clutch holds up as well. It's been a while since we met

That looks like a good list. Is the spa drilled also for t3? If so just go t3 on the housing. If not sell it for one that is or keep searching or find out what sort of deal butters can get on an ATP t4 gt35r housing.

Sourcing that housing is the hardest part of the build. I don't have it yet. I wanted quick spool so I went with .63 but T3 on that would end up choking the engine up top so I went T4. Im told the T4 may also give me a smoother spool. The problem is a T4 .63 housing for a GT35 is very rare. Butters is looking into it for me and I may end up going directly to Garrett for one. All the T4 .63 turbine housings Ive seen are for P Trim. In the end it will only be a couple extra $$ and Ill have the exact setup I want. I may end up changing it next year but Im happy with my choices so far.

Finally got rid of the flu bug. Time to get moving. Engine and tranny are out. Cylinder head goes to the shop this week. Cutring and copper spacer goes on next week. Still hoping to have it all buttoned up and running by June 1st

Poor engine bay is so dirty

I wonder how many hours it takes to set these cars up? I wish I noted the time on my build. I'm sure if I had a lift in my garage like Phil it would cut the time a considerable amount.

It depends on things. If your installing a preexisting kit, buying or building the engine , building every pipe, welding all the flanges etc. All of our builds were much different in many ways.
