Hello everyone
Have been trying to pinpoint some issues with my sister's 2009 328i xDrive Coupe. The stereo will not work properly. When you start the car, the screen is sometimes blank, then it may open up on its own. None of the buttons work or steering wheel buttons. The volume is stuck at a certain level-quite loud and on the same station. At the same time, her SOS light message is illuminated in the instrument display, between the speedometer and tachometer. In addition awhile ago, the "gong" was acting up, sounding differently and sometimes would randomly come on. The clock will also randomly reset to --:-- once in awhile. It is very nerve racking. The car has always been maintained the old school way.
I am in the process of doing some maintenance on it now as well. My first thought was the battery may be aged. Ordered a new one from BMW and going to install and register this week. Something else that it may be ??
Thanks

Install and register the battery first. The symptoms do seem to point to an aging battery.
Thanks for the response! Going to give that a shot
