    Buy a 1998 740 IL

    Hello everyone,

This is my first post so bear with me.
i recently came across a 1998 740 IL at wholesale for $5,950 and at 55,700 miles. From what I have found it has 22 maintenance records, two owners, and a clean title and smog. I have about $10,000. Should I buy it and utilize the remaining funds to repair it? I have heard at such low mileage that repairs would likely be low anyway.

    Thanks for reading!

Walk away. 7 series are notorious for being maintenance nightmares. Being BMW's top of the line vehicle they are not at all cheap to repair and maintain.

You are terrible at shopping for used cars if you think the better part of $6k is a deal worth pursuing on an E38... never mind wholesale, the things are like $2-3k on the open market...

Heard in some places that car is worth more in parts than the car itself. lol

Serious?. This is a joke, right.
    A '98 740 wholesales at $5950? Drop the zero, you'll be closer.
55k miles? Great! There ought to be perhaps a half a dozen maintenance services performed at that point, the rest are repairs. It doesn't get any better.

    NO

I personally know someone who did this and regretted it. Walk away.
