Not sure what its like in Canada but the minimum wage in most US States increases every year.
I for one am quite impressed at just how little the prices have gone up. E30s during their production run had a few years with $1,000+ price increases from year to year, and when we are talking about $20,000 cars, $1,000 is a MUCH more significant bump then would be even a $1,500 bump on a $40,000 car. These relatively low price bumps year to year is great imo, and at any rate a $250 price bump is unlikely to be a dealbreaker for someone buying a $40,000 car. If your buying a new BMW you aren't living on minimum wage anyways
