    OIL recommendations 99 540i?

    Very basic question I know. But what would most of you guys run in your 99 540i? got about 190xxx automatic.

    What does the owners manual say? It probably needs a full synthetic oil that has the "BMW LL-01" logo!

    It probably wants a ll-01 5w-30 oil... But check the manual. Don't be misled that running a thicker oil solves probables...it is just a poor band aid for postponing problems and making them worse.

    Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by hundreds of engineers that get paid thousands of dollars for something you bought at Pep Boys because your buddy who doesn't have a job told you it was 'better'?!?
