Noticed a rubbing and squeaking noise today coming from front wheel drivers side. It only happens at low speed when slowing down. Not when breaking. Any ideas? I say about 15mph and lower

BMW's have many different suspension set-up depending on the year. Since I don't know what year your 1er was built, if indeed you are talking about the 120d, I cannot begin to tell you what the problem maybe.
However what I can tell is for you to raise the front of the vehicle and have a look at the suspension. Next if you have non-standard tires and rims, that will have answered your question.

Is it an early 2011, or late? BMW change models in the middle of 2011, so after 06/2011 we are talking about a different suspension set-up. Is it a E-8x or F-2x?
