Not much talk of the N54 over here. Thought you guys may like this. Stock unopened N54. Beat the previous record of 753whp. All other details on graph.
Fuel was E48.
What's the power SAE?

What turbo and how much boost?
Regardless, pretty impressive for an unopened engine with an open deck aluminum block. Any drivetrain reinforcements(besides the clutch)?
I asked the same question about how are these unopened N54 holding up so far yet the numbers are impressive at the same time. Currently there is a talk of building a N54 for a goal of 900hp before attempting for the 1000 hp target.

The real question is...has anyone actually cracked one of these open deck aluminum blocks yet? If so...how and how many?
As far as I know, nobody has opened one yet and still exploring more opportunities to extract more power and to see how long these engine can last. However, I did come across one thread about a N54 build thread for high horsepower goal. Another one with a 900hp goal too.
It's a HTA3794.
Not many failed blocks also. Actually i can't recall if someone had a block failure (seen rod hole on block though). The myth about aluminum open block doesn't last is well a myth. It's all about managing heat and with the new technology they sure do manage heat.MOTIV P-1000 Fuel Setup: Designed to provide upwards of 1000hp worth of fuel and work along side the OEM HPFP system. Who decided on E48? They need to read all the whitepapers out there. There's very few advantages of ethanol mixes under 55-60% in regards to knock suppression.
Regardless, I'd be curious to know the expected longevity of this.
You know, I've heard this before. But it doesn't make any sense to me. Where is this documentation you're referring to?
One would think that the addition of a higher octane, higher latent heat fluid would only help in any concentration. I don't understand what would suddenly change around 60%.
I would like to see it get through a 20 minute track day session. Some place like road america!
bumping this thread back just because I saw some questions in here.. I was reading the reason the n54 guys don't run anything over e60 really is because they get the most power out of the e50 mix. Supposedly e85 acts totally different on Direct port vs Direct injection. any body have more info on this?
