That is one extremely clean undercarriage! Wow! How do you keep it that clean?
Thanks.
After an accident I had a lot of recovery time so I stripped all the suspension, plastic liners etc. from the car and hand washed it all including the floor pan. So every spring and maybe once through the summer I give it a cleaning, it only takes a couple hours to maintain.

Copart. 37,000 miles. One owner. Interior is 9.8/10. Not just cosmetic damage. Mounts, axle, tons of plastic bits. I'm closed to finished with it. When I finish the paint (started yesterday, all body work done, primed, just need to wet sand, color and clear), only another 5 hours of work left.

I like the Mini Coopers, but at least around here, they are cheap enough that I don't think I could justify repairing one. Regardless, post some pics once its finished!

But worth EVERY penny. car drives SOOOO much better. Took it down some proper tight twisties, Messed up my internal gyro a bit! Had to take it mellow on the way home.
Totally worth the money and the wait. Highly recommend tainik
grabbing for more steering wheel then NOT feeling that slightly tacky slightly grimy caked-in-human-filth tired out hide is really nice.
OF COURSE I cleaned and conditioned my original stocker multiple times but... It wasn't quite doing it.

This morning I finally picked up new wheel caps to replace my badly yellowed, dull, and faded ones. Haven't put them on yet.20150910_131428.jpg
H&R Front Sway Bar
Not exactly something I bought within the past week, but I did only get the chance to install them recently...
Pulled out the blue ones in favor of the white ones; much better
I also redid the power steering circuits, to cure a pesky leak; new reservoir, to get a clean filter and a locally made ss/teflon high pressure hose from the pump to the rack (substituted for the one that always weeps). The E-36 cooler__installed around 02/06, to make room of the air to water heat-exchanger for the ES/TS__merely received a fresh coat of paint.
But the single most important FIX that this poor Coupe has needed for over ten (>10) years, at least that I'm aware of, is the replacement of the carpeted trim panels that some GOON hacked postcard-sized holes into (bastard couldn't even make them both the same size ).
A decade ago, I did what I could to disguise the offense using some gaffer's tape, but in the ensuing years, they only looked worse.
THIS pleases me!
Put in a new CCV valve ("cold weather" kit from BA) with all new hoses/lines and scrubbed out the ICV while it was out. May be in my head, but she seems much smoother all around now.
Ended up forgetting to plug in the camshaft position sensor on the intake side (I did such a good job moving it out of the way, I completely forgot it), so I drove the first 30 miles with NO low end power (guessing VANOS wasn't happy about that!!). Corrected that brain fart by actually plugging it back in, reset the CEL code, and all is well in the world.
And Jeez, could they make the re-insertion of the hose that goes up to the intake manifold from the CCV any more difficult to put in? My daughter came down twice to tell me to use better language. lol!
Time to ready the coupe for the track, so valve adjustment and brake system flush was in order. Also found too much play in the steering column flex joint, so the lower section got replaced to tighten things up.
BimmerWorld E30/E36/Z3 Front Suspension Overhaul Kit
Already put the new tie rods on. The old ones were so worn out when I took them off. The ball joint had all of the play in the world in them.
Brought the control arms in to work to press the lollipops onto the arms. I should be finishing up the install this afternoon. This should make a huge difference in how the car feels up front.

Recently got new tires all around, Continental Extreme Contact DW (Texas, no snow) - overall a pretty good tire. A little more flex (i.e. slower initial steering response) but better overall dry and wet grip than the previous tires (sorry, brain fart, can't remember the brand of the previous tires, on when I purchased vehicle last year).
Got some new slotted / drilled rotors, ceramic pads and stainless steel brake lines (and new fluid), wheel spacers (15mm front, 20mm rear) and some AP Coilovers (from Germany) - now gotta find the time to install...
Also scored some new leather seat covers on ebay (upper and lower, both sides, sport seats, black leather) for only $202 + $20 shipping (yes, for both seats).
Have seen these same ones sell on ebay as high as $600 or so. The company is in Houston, TX - autoupholstery (ebay say they are based in Australia but covers shipped from Houston).
Received them the other day and they are very nice quality leather, nice double stitching, nice backing and reinforcements and appear to have all the proper pockets, etc. for the rods as well as clips/flanges for attachment, zippers on back of uppers.
Only part that was vinyl instead of leather is the very bottom edge of the front/sides of lower seat where it will be pulled up under the frame.
My original leather is still in good shape (one tiny hole in drivers seat, black fading a little on passenger support between legs), but has the 'flat' sections on bottom / lower back (sport seats in a 2001 3.0i) versus the M sport seats with multiple 'bars' of stitching across bottom and lower back. This project will probably be on hold until xmas break or other extended time away from work. While I have the bottom leather off I will tackle fixing / gluing the drivers outside bolster as it is sagging.
After I glue the bolster back together (I am pretty sure it is split as you can feel / see the metal bar that gives it shape and support) I was thinking of gluing down some strong but thin fabric over the bolster area. Probably something like ripstop nylon. My intent is the keep the foam from splitting by using the fabric to distribute the forces across a wider area. Anyone have any experience doing this? I did see one post where they used duct tape to fix the bolster but I figure 3M Foam Fast Spray Adhesive and some fabric overlay-ed and glued would be a longer lasting fix.
If I didn't have to work I could spend more time working on my roadster, but then I couldn't afford any new parts
AKG poly engine mounts.

Clutch pedal bushings,Clutch line, new rubber parts for intake.(mine were cracked leaking vacuum )
New Radiator and both pulley tensioners to go along with the new belts last week.
