Replaced the tie rods, new rad, got a safety and paid the man for my plates and stickers.
Lined up insurance for Dec 1st
Shopping for new suspension up front. ( they passed it but said Pass side strut is shot)
Going to drive it for a month and see what else breaks.
I put 16" rims from a 1998 540i on it with winter tires. Any problems I will see with the bigger rims?
Need 4 tires in the spring but now have 15 and 16 inch rims. Scrap the winters in the spring and use
the 16" rims. Sell the 15"ers
Using the car as my garage stereo and smoke caffe for the last 2 months has been great! Can't wait to drive it.
Anybody know where I can get a running M50 engine in Southern California? I just picked up a cheep 92 525i as a project. I'm pretty sure the engine is toast as it overheats after about 5-10mins of idling, idles super rough, belches white smoke out of the exhaust, and oil/coolant pours out of the back left (passenger side) of the engine. Not sure if it's even worth it to pull it apart and fix it if I can just get a good running motor for about $500 and just drop it in.
I don't know about an m50... But there is a basically free M30 and M60 in San Diego from another member.

Check it out.
My 525 got an oil change. I also took the opportunity to throw on some winter tires, mounted on a set of 15" Style 32s that I bought cheaply off another forum member (thanks!). They are actually e34 spec wheels, 15x7 et 20, which I gather is quite unusual in that style.
The winter tires may be overkill for the DC area. But I had a rather bad experience last year with the weather, so I decided to go with an abundance of caution this year.

Bring More Wallets.... Got two trips in her and the front tire fell apart.
Bought 4 Hancook winter tires for the 15" rims and 4 Riken Raptors for the 16" rims for the spring.
All the rust is gone and sealed up for winter. Paint her flat black in the spring.
Interior is now minty clean as a whistle.
-20 C here today or I would change the oil.
Still shopping for suspension. Vogtland springs for sure. Not sure of the rest.
For sure buy the 540. Keep them both.
I would buy your 525 but you are a little far.
Finally got around to installing this. Found the extended leather set, plus a full set of Graphite Bird's Eye, plus a set of chrome BMW individual door handles.

-20 C here, and a rubber joint for the fuel rail decided to leak gas all over my intake manifold. crazy how much gas will sizzle and steam on a lukewarm manifold at frigid ambient. I somewhat enjoy the smell of gasoline, but this was just too much... plus car fire = bad
at least it's easy to get to and I had some spare fuel line and clamps in the right size!
Bought 2 new shocks and 2 new struts, and 2 rear tow links. Cheapies from rock auto because winter beater. My passenger side shock and strut froze due to the cold weather and being partially blown.

Hi. My first post here
One day, me and couple of my friends drank few beers and came up with an idea of making a better use for beaten up E38 740d's engine and gearbox. Maybe that package suits better in a E34 Touring? Practical body and few hundred kg lighter than E38, it cannot be stupid swap Finnish laws for tuning and swapping engines are a bit too limited, for example you can compare your swap with the most high powered non M-car of model range and add max. 25% displacement and 20% horsepower. This means no legal LS swaps etc. for E34. That M67D39 fits to disp/hp demands, and can be tuned to about 300hp/700Nm(516ft lb) from original 245/560(413).
I basically made a deal with my friend, to buy that E38 when it becomes useless. So, I searched for a relatively decent Touring and then I also needed 540i parts for brakes and chassis. I bought a rolling chassis 540iA for spares.
Weeks went by, and while I was waiting for my friend to sell that E38, I bought M-Parallels, facelift/M skirts and M rear bumper. LSD unit for 210 diff and 3 new pairs of friction plates/dog plates, making a 40% LSD. Also fitted 540i air ducts to front bumper
I somehow can't put direct pic here, so I'll give a link then.

Of course it will be lowered, bumper gets fully painted silver and and... If I just get that swap done first.
And this is the reason why I posted to this thread. Hopefully it's ok. My friend smashed that E38 and I finally got a chance to buy it, cheap! So, I bought a engine donate car for my E34

If somebody knows that this kind of swap has been done, and it has project topic somewhere, please link it Would be so much easier to do.
Physical fitting can't be a bad job, oilpan bulge at wrong end of the engine and most likely very many other little issues, but electrical side is my worry. How to get that gearbox working...

Possibly one of the worst days of my life today. A friend was stealing my money from my card, almost fought him at school, mom went to the hospital sick out of no where, got my E34 back from the shop with a new clutch. Driving it for the first time in 2 weeks and their's a storm in the Bay Area, some dumbass driver infront of me was going about 2mph and almost came to a full stop on a deep ass puddle and my e34 that I just got back from the shop today damn near got hydro locked. Car stalled out in the big ass puddle in the road, blocked cars, and my battery was dead. I tried to push my car up the incline the flood while it was pouring rain but got help from two nice guys then a cop. Had my brother and friend save my ass and help jump start and my M60 cheated death once again motor damn near hydro locked, let her run for 20 minutes and smoke out the whole street. Possibly one of the worst days I have had in a long time, but I still have my e34 and its alive. Just my luck :/
Damn. I wish you the best mate. I always reference this quote when I have a shitty day or week.
“Life is just a series of peaks and troughs, and you don't whether you're in a trough until you're climbing out, or on a peak until you're coming down. And that's it, you know, you never know what's round the corner. But it's all good. If you want the rainbow you've got to put up with the rain"

I do not believe the M67 equipped 740d was offered in the United States, so you may run into a lack of information or help with some of the members in this forum. But it could definitely be a good swap! Lots of custom work I imagine.
Ok. I didn't even check that thing.
I've prepared to face some big issues, and need for quite amount of custom parts/work. Makes it more interesting. Without this original idea, I've could have bought a 540i or cheap M5 straight away.
Hopefully this will be success
I have looked some motor picture wrong, oilpan bulge is in the right end! Figured it out while investigating my recent purchase...
On the 1995 525i
Replaced the Coolant Level Sensor !! So nice no alarm!
Oil change at 233,040 miles.
Brake pad job front and rear, she stops now!

Weather was in the 60s here in MD!!! So I took the chance after work to replace the fan blower now I have a blower that works!!!! So soon time to have heat. Only works at speed 4 but that be fixed when the parts comes in the mail
Replaced the bleeder screw
Replaced the water pump
Replaced the thermostat
Sword is half way ready to replace.
Replaced all the bulbs in the third brake light:
Installed new off the shelf microswitches for the rear hatch, since I didn't want to pay BMW prices for the OEM parts.
And drove it to work.
Cleaned the ICV without losing my arms under the manifold... (or my sanity)
Some crazy guy pulled the rear seats out and emptied everything out of the trunk!
Wired up a JLA 1000/1 amp and two JLA 15w0 subs.
Tunes always come first.
I just love it when you get tailgated down the road. When the road turns to two lanes they speed buy you like there kid is dying in the front seat!
Ahhh then the red light and you roll up and pound the tunes till they cry like a little girl. Then the green and they speed away like a raped pig to get pulled over for speeding.
Love it!
She needed a bit of bimmering up so I upgraded the tail lights, I like this look a lot more....next step is to tint the windows 20% all round.
