... Happening every time I step on the clutch. The sound seems to be coming right from under my foot. Squeaky peddle? Like a spring? Does that sound more likely, or is this indicating a more severe issue? Im out about 40 miles from home, and I'd rather have it towed if it sounds like it's a horrendous issue I'm not aware of.
Like a throw out bearing? If so, should I be alright for a drive home with a fix next week?

A pretty common issue with our cars (and BMWs in general) is squeaky clutch pedal bushings. Here's an excellent DIY:http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...squeaky+clutch
Current: 2001 M Coupe - Titanium Silver, 2022 M3 Competition xDrive - individual Enzian blue
Former: 2001 M Coupe - Laguna Seca Blue
Thanks. I read about it, but it caused some anxiety that I wanted to confirm the issue with more knowledgable minds than mine.

I had the same exact problem - but here was my fix [which has so far lasted 6 months]...
I removed the under panel so I can get access to the area. Then I positioned myself upside down under the dashboard [legs and feet in the air] (like the pic below) and using WD-40 and a long thick artist paint brush I had a helper spray the paintbrush with a generous dose of WD-40 and then handed me the brush where I was then able to use the brush and soak the area good. I then pumped the clutch a few times to let the WD-40 get in there and repeated the application one more time. Use goggles so nothing gets into your eyes.
Using the brush really let's you get the penetrant exactly where you need it. It is a very tight area and spraying there is not ideal. Use the brush.
Squeek is gone and never came back. Easy Peasy fix and free!

Get new bushings (I personally just got ones from UUC) and follow the DIY to remove the pedal, install new bushings, and re-grease the appropriate components (I've used marine grease and have had good results for the past couple years).
Alright, I'll take care of it next week. Thanks a lot guys.

Mine started squeaking at end of last season and I had completely forgotten about it. I'll need to add this to my spring list, though, I'll most certainly be going with the lubricant unless there is lateral play in the clutch arm.

ack....thanks for reminding me that I had ordered new pedal bushings a couple months ago and never got around to installing them...
The squeak kind of went away on it's own...
