Looks good. I'm having Scott Hair (ScottWax on Autopia), restore my roady's paint on Monday. Can't wait! Opti-guard going on as well!

What does "restore [the] paint" mean? I just ordered a Dr. Color Chip to fill in road rash. Should I be doing something else?

Wash -> Claybar -> Compound -> DA polish -> repeat polish -> seal with OptiCoat. I'm not bothering with chips since mine is a DD, I just want the luster brought back out.

I've tried and tried to cut with my DA but I think I'm giving up and going to go buy a good rotary. Seems though that some professionals say they can restore paint with a DA. My buddy who does mobile detailing on jets and high end cars tells me that the DA is a waste of time and to get a good rotary for cutting. Maybe he is just lazy :P

Curious to know what you think about that?

OP that car is gorgeous. Super jelly :O

kam, I hope you don't mind us discussing detailing in your thread. I figure it's relevant but if you don't like it we can end it here.

Personally I am not very experienced with either DA or rotary tools, so I can't offer much input there. I will say that the brand and model of DA does make quite a difference. My detailer, Scott Hair, is widely regarded as one of the best in the country. He uses a Rupes 21 DA and swears by it. Then again, it's a $500 DA!

Your car looks great, the Optima products do a real nice job, use their no rinse wash and detailer and it will stay looking just like it does now indefinately.

Do feel bad, I was missing the gas door stopper for a year before it was mentioned on the forum, clear stick-on bumpers for about a buck are available at most hardware stores and work perfectly
