The 3d print company quotes about 20$ each for the new surround parts. Ill get one done as a test part, if it works well.... you guys let me know how many I need to order.

I don't have an issue with my switch, but this is an awesome solution for those who do! Nice job, Sky! I'll probably snag one while I can, because it seems like it's bound to be an issue at some point.

The 3d Print company did good work. And beat the delivery estimate by 10 days. Im happy with it. The surface finish is a little rougher than I had hoped, but that's a minor downside in my eyes. And... they offer it printed in any color or material.... hell even sterling silver if your pockets are deep enough.

Just got asked about why my switch looked stuck. went out to car and the switch wasn't pushed all the way flush. Now its flat and flush. I think it could stand to have the retention lip made a little bigger so that it would hold in case someone's headliner was really worn out. But it works perfect in mine.

Bravo. Had this issue in my '99 and would have loved this back prior to Fall '08!

Does it have the tabs, or is it snug fit?

Both, it has some small angled tabs but is also about .140 larger overall on width and length.

Did the 3D shop quote you a different price if you had ordered in bulk?

I definitely need one of these. I hate that my button is always trying to fall out.

No, the shop charges by volume of material used. So that volume wouldn't change based on number of parts. The only variable would be the shipping. But by the time I ordered several and then had to reship them out to people it would be the same or maybe more. Easiest to just order straight from them than having me as the middleman.

    Thumbs up

    Hi Sky1Z3,

Very cool solution. I have the exact same problem with my black Z3 Coupe. Would it would be possible for you to share the file so I can print one as well?
