ADAz3M's very GREEN Roady "build"/update thread

I figured I should start a thread here with updates instead of bumping my introduction thread.

Picked up this 99 Evergreen/Evergreen Roady a week ago. Here's how she started out...with lots of crap and Mbadging on her

    Day 0

but overall a pretty solid one-owner car, minus a potential subframe issue and crappy rear window.

Removed all of the crap and Mbadges as soon as I got her home

    ...

I guess it's more teal than green

Thanks to recommendations on here I set out to see what I could do about the rear window.

I picked up some Meguiars PlastX and went from very crappy

    to slightly less crappy

Never put stickers on a plastic window

then, thanks again to the forum, realized I'm missing the window trim. So I gave up and ordered a new emiata window.

    - - - Updated - - -

Did a few front end changes...removed the crap, New Roundel, clear bumper side markers, plastidipped the grill (not sure I'll keep it black). Threw a little Plastx on the headlights as well for good measure.

Contemplating putting these on the roady....what do you guys think?

18x8 and 18x9 if I remember correctly. Never loved them on the e30, they were too big.

I was just thinking that e30 was one of the only times I've seen polished lip and grey center and actually liked it.

I'm glad too lol. It's your car evergreen as well?

I would test them if I had the wheels here. They are back in NY with my e30. Going to shop them down to FL next time I go back.

I'd prefer a non gunmetal center. I might give them a plastidip to a light grey/silver if I don't like how they look on the evergreen

Since my seats were sliding all over the place I figured it was time for the fix

turns out it was definitely needed. All but 1 were completely disintegrated.

also installed the seat mod kit...WOW what a difference in comfort. i hated the seats until I installed this. My back needed this.
Seats operate 100x better now that everything was replaced and cleaned/greased.

Only thing is that I forgot to do the clutch pedal bushings while the seat was out.

    - - - Updated - - -

also looks like someone may have tried to repair or dye a portion of the seat

Luckily a little cleaning got that off and whatever crap had been on the leather. It looks much cleaner over all. Still need to hit it with some conditioner, but I didnt have any on hand.

turns out I have the dreaded dual sub setup.

Not wanting to invest much audio wise or alter anything. I ordered some replacement upgraded speakers for the box and the front kick panels(components) and I'm going to install some 4" speakers in place of the units behind the seats. Eventually i'll put in a new head unit, but that will be as far as I'll go. I know it's not optimal, but its better than nothing.

and best of all...I got a great parking spot at my new job.

    Nice and Safe!

hard to tell in the picture above, but I removed the horrid windshield tint(seen below) after an hour with a steamer

    MUCH BETTER

This week I repaired the leaks at the a-pillar with some silicon. Probably could've done a neater job, but it held up in a south Florida torrential downpour.

Been upgrading the speakers in the car since I got it. Threw in some MB quart components (just the woofers) to replace the twin 5.25 subs in the rear. Really helped out. Still not great, but much better. Also swapped in a pair of JBL 5.25" components up front (didn't get to do the tweeters yet). These were 2ohm and worked great.

Finally figured it was time to swap the tiny "3inch" rear speakers.

Pretty sure these were a bit worn out (all the other original speakers were in great shape)
3" (supposedly) original vs New 4" fosgates

    Required a little cutting

Ended up pretty nice. I'll paint those red things black eventually.

These made the biggest improvement. Such a difference. The sound is actually decent overall now, with just a few weird bass moments that the "subs" just will never be able to handle.

Not bad for only 150 bucks worth of speakers. Next will be a new head unit.

Every time I see my car messed with I fantasize about catching said person in the act and knocking some sense into them. Literally. Like last week when I came outside to vomit all over my soft top.... yes vomit. Not the End of days but gross to scrub out. I love my college town but that is way too far.

Sorry this scumbag happened upon your car bud. Hope the paint is all good!

Surprisingly, no. Luckily I had just put on a cheap 5 dollar replica emblem...so no big loss! I can't blame the stone chips on the crook tho

oh man, that's awful. At least you caught it soon and all that acid didn't mess anything up.

I once found a full beer bottle was tossed onto the front seat of my jeep wrangler...that was a nice wet ride home after leaving the bar!

the right camera settings can make anything look good

also, I got lucky with the time of day and lighting/reflections. Car was in the shade but everything behind the camera was in direct sun

Found it on autotrader. Picked it up from a guy in Miami. Original owner.

There's an identical one (looks like its in a bit rougher shape), running around Fort Lauderdale. Haven't seen it while I've been in my car yet though.
