    Poltergeist Siren

Had an unusual issue for the last couple of months with the alarm siren going off when I unlock. Usually if I repeat lock and unlock, the siren turns off but other times I have to wait the 30 seconds. A number of posts on some of the other forums link this exact occurrence to faulty rechargeable batteries in the siren.

Looks like this may have been my problem.

Siren operating normally. Thanks for the removal write-up Frankie. Kind of nice replacing the wolf whistle with the road runner Beep-Beep.

Mike, is that the back of the actual alarm speaker hidden inside the front passenger firewall area or some other alarm part?

It looks to me like Mickey Mouse was the culprit.

Taylor, yes the siren behind the fire wall next to the AC pipes. Split the sealed unit open to take a look inside. One report on this forum of the battries causing a fire (fitchick).

How did you gain access to it? I was in there for another reason a while ago and could not for the life of me figure out how to get in there to unplug the alarm siren.

Frankie has a write up on his site. Held in by one 10mm hex head bolt. Some what of a tight fit clearing the bolt from the bracket.

I've been having the same issue for a while (locks normally, unlocks okay, then alarm goes off).
I purposely got the wolf whistle for my 03 540i and I want to keep it.
Is there a chance that I could replace the rechargeable batteries instead of getting a new siren?

I found my siren was inopperable. Turns out that the amp connector was black and fused itself to the siren. Have the replacement connector and siren. Need a picture of the harness itself for the pinout.
