Always amazes me how much wheel/tire these cars can swallow up lolOk, fitment notes finally:
Car is on Ground Control coilovers, Race/Hybrid camber plates set at -1.8 (total effective camber unknown)
Rear:
-18x11.5 et21
-Backspacing 7 1/16"
-295/30 Hankook Ventus V12
*(original plan was 315, but initial fitment with just the wheel made me unsure...plus the 315s pretty much double the price of the set of tires. Now that the car is sitting on 295s, i think i'd be comfortable trying a 315 next time)
-Initial fitment tried with just wheel: no issues, clearance to trailing arm extremely tight. 1-2mm probably
-Fitment with tire: Still fit fine until car lowered. contacting inside vertical surfaces of fender liner, appearing to be mostly on the rear areas.
*Solution: trim away inner/vertical surfaces of fender liner, but still keeping the areas that were actually covering things up. No longer any contact issues.
-Currently, i have a 3mm spacer out back. The wheel and tire was clearing everything, but i wanted a bit more space. After driving the car for a few weeks, I think i'd like to try a larger spacer + fender-roll
*Fitment was slightly different than what i originally thought. When doing calculations based on my 18x10.5 APEX setup, i mistakenly thought i was using 15mm spacers, when they were in fact 20mm spacers
Front:
-18x9.0 et28
-backspacing 6 1/16"
-245/35 Hankook Ventus V12
-Clearance issues: Because of the smaller 16" RS faces, the wheel bolts contact the factory calipers, specifically right where a few fins in the caliper casting stick out. Appears to need ~8mm to fix issue.
*Solution one: Grind/smooth small section of fins on caliper housing. 3-4mm gained
*Solution two: shorten the BBS wheel bolts (There is about 4-5mm excess bolt past the nut) After I take care of that, i'll likely not need any spacer. For now i'm using a 5mm spacer
-Fender liners also trimmed up front.
After this (and previous) setups, i'm thinking the holy grail of extreme fitment (without heavy body modifications) would be 10" front, 12" rear. Obviously you'd have to run stretch-ish tires, but nothing totally ridiculous. Seems like a 295 would work fine in the rear with a fender roll, and 245 or 255 front

Gotcha - I have the same unit sitting in a box awaiting install at some point in the future... just hadn't seen a drain line left attached in any pictures before. Forgive me for not reading up on it before posting another dumb question: I was assuming the drain would be a plug off the S/C... did you replace the plug with this drain line and a cap on the line? was it supplied with your kit?
Came with the line installed, IIRC
Some people might let it hang down instead of being coiled up
Jeebus. Offsets? Tire brand/sizes? Share your secrets! Love them.

bam. awesome! we gotta get together this summer. what size tires as well.
Man that looks awesome. i'm planning on getting the style 5s that look really similar to these. and seeing these on your car makes me want them even more. Geat job.
Hankook Ventus v12 tires? Be sure and post this in this thread for permanent documentation: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...ad.php?1973242
Looks so nice. Seriously, 11.5's totally tuck under there no problem. I can't wait to mount up my 315 25 19's on my 11.5's as the 305 30's don't really show them off very well. Looks like you have 285's on there? Offsets? Wheel shell sizes? Dont be a Ghery.

Oh...and this is my .02..... have you ConsideRed a different center cap? The red ....against the gold...on the blue car...not my favorite. I'm nit picking...sry...anyway the car looks aWeSome. I love how much tire we can run on our small cars. Keep up the good work. ...
