So whatever power you were making on 20psi is basically the limit on stock m50 pistons?

Yes, I mean, it was 10:1 with 18-20psi and some timing. It was bound to happen.

You think it's just aggressive tuning, and the mistakes that come with it,
vs actual power breaking these ring lands?

I just broke a stock piston myself, and looking into billet slugs but idk.
G&T is making 600+tq with stocks.

Well, aggressive tuning = actual power. It was making plenty of power when it happened. Not really concerned what happened though, that is why the motor got built.

Sorry, been too busy to get on here much. Car has been together for some time now, I will try to get some photos and updates soon.

The car came from the factory in the 2300lb range, then got AC deleted, sound deadening removed, and rear seats removed. With the motor swap, turbo setup, and roll bar, I would guess it's at ~2500lbs now.

The ECU works flawlessly. The car is daily driven 3 seasons of the year with no drivability issues. The 6135 turbo I had on it ate some seals, so I threw on a PTE 5557 DBB T3 0.63 a/r just to see how it performed. It actually made the car much more fun to drive and still made power up top, which surprised me. Put it on the dyno a few weeks back to tune the ECU and here is what it did at 17 psi, falling to 15 psi by redline.

I have zero complaints about how the car runs and drives. The only complaint is that it is winter here and the car is stored for the next few months.

That's awesome! I'm working on a similar project here right now, my plan is to use an AEM FIC Piggy Back to manage fuel and timing. Have you ever heard about somebody using it?

Congratulations to your project, I wish I could see it personally!

Thanks- I was pretty surprised too. I thought it would choke out pretty good up top. Yes, S52 cams.

What's your IATs ? The graph provided doesn't indicate the turbo is out of steam, but either your tuning is very aggressive, or your at that exact point where the turbo will start to go out of efficiency. Regardless, nicely done. Most would say a 6262 would be a minimum for 500 wheel.

Had a First time drive in a 6262 m3 today, it was JB and low boost. I'm impressed.

Man, I fail at reading my own thread. I didn't see your reply. The IAT's were getting up there at that power level. I would have to pull logs off my laptop to see where exactly they were. Regardless, that turbo is about out of steam at 500whp. In the coming weeks, I'll be pulling the turbo setup off and putting an EFR on it, most likely a 7670.

I made 500/500 on my TRM II setup, 8.5:1 compression motor, .63 A/R 6262 at 20 psi....I'm actually surprised you made over 500 at 17 psi, with less displacement, lower octane, and smaller turbo.....what exhaust manifold did you use?

Well, my engine is closer to 9.5:1CR and it is tuned on a standalone. Those things along could make the difference. I'm using a Good & Tight E30 manifold.

...depends what dyno. It looks like the graph could be a Dynapack. Is it?

Graphs always depend on the dyno and for accurate comparisons the same exact Make/Model Dyno must be used along with close atmospheric numbers.
Where have I been? Astral projecting.
