I got bored last weekend and had extra microsuede left over from my last project so I decided to wrap the entire lower portion of my dash and center console in it to match my parcel shelf and headliner. What do you think?
(sorry for the crappy iphone photos)
I like it, but I don't love it, I think the center console and driver's side looks great but the glovebox makes a weird contrast.... oh well, its on there now.
wow that kinda looks..........awesome!!! you did a great job none the less
I think it looks good too. I think for me the great thing about alcantra is using it sparingly. Either way your application looks perfect.
Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I think I've definitely hit my maximum suede allotment for this car though.
Well.... maybe I'll do the door panels someday...
I use 3M Super 77 spray adhesive. You want to do a good solid coat but not so much that it blobs. I give it a few minutes to tack up before I lay the fabric so the glue doesn't get pushed all the way through the fabric. Then you just flatten it from the center out to conform to the shape.
looks great
so fresh and so clean.
Looks good, you need the alcantara M-tech wheel and knob to bring it together now
is that ACTUAL alcantara or the jo ann's cheap crap? I hope it's real or it will fade and wear fast. btw, looks good other than that edge near the door.
Cheapo-crap from Jo Anns. The cheapo crap lasted 3 years on my A and C pillars before it started to fade when my car lived outside. Now it's pretty much only exposed to light when it gets driven so I'm not really concerned about it. Maybe when I'm going for the "final form" with this car I'll get the real stuff and be a little bit more sparing with how much of it I wrap.
Yeah, the vinyl itself is damaged on that corner near the door so I need to see if I can glue it back in shape or something.
Looks really clean to me. Do the entire car. Then contrast it with red like the GT2 RS....
Wow, that looks great! Hopefully nobody scuffs or tears it when getting into the car!
This looks great. Gives me ideas for my own pride
Current:biiiiiiiig pyle of boxes
Soon to come: Turbocharging, complete M package, new paint, refinished interior, cleaned enginebay, and maybe widebody
Im not against this in any way.
Under the knife: EMS pro standalone, wasted spark, twinscroll manifold with hybrid HX35/40 turbo, GC coilovers, E34 m5 brake conversion.
Wow, you guys are making me like it more.
Wow, that looks a TON better than I was expecting. Love it.
^x2, looks ALOT better than where I saw it going from the title of the thread. I like how you wrapped the piece above the glove box in carbon vinyl as well.. Been thinking of doing something like that with mine as well.. Not sure how it would fair up if I did the center console with CF vinyl.

I used to have my shift surround area done in the same CF fabric, but couldn't get it to fit as well as the suede for whatever reason. If you look close, you can see where I had to cut it to make the corner, it looked really shoddy and I was never that happy with it.
You might have better luck than me though, the trick is to start at the corner and smooth it out towards the top and bottom.
How much would you charge to do this, the headliner and rear parcel if I brought you my car and bought materials?
