Looking for a BMW E30/E32/E34 car phone like the one pictured below



Bought one of these bad boys and successfully wired it into my car; having since then selling the car and buying a new e30, I want to keep it and hold onto it for a rainy day project

Must come with wire loom and metal mounting bracket (full length of wire loom is not required)

Let me know what you guys have

To the best of my knowledge you'll never get it to function as a phone. It uses signals that are no longer used in the US. That makes it a pretty expensive arm rest

I don't need it to function as a phone, it's more of a novelty piece at best. I already researched it myself and know that it won't work because the signals have been discontinued. I just need it to light up and make noise. I don't need it to actually function as a real phone; however cool it would've been to troll on cops

I retrofitted that phone a couple of years ago. (although fully functioning).

To have the horn and ejectbox light to work, you need to feed +12v to both connectors. In other words, both the main cable that eventually goes to the send/receive module AND the connector under the ejectbox (horn holder) must have +12v on it.

If you only power the main wire, the phone buttons will briefly light up, but then go out right away.

If you don't have the main wire, you need to somehow put +12v on the little +12v wire of the RJ45 connector.

If you do everything right, you should end up with something like this, minus the 5/5 signal strength indicator.







As you can see, this is the (back then) latest type with upgraded display (only shame they change from negative to positive display, while all others are negative) and on this system you can also send/receive SMS-text messages and both cardreaders work.


The reason these don't work in the USA is because they are single band phones that use the 900MHZ frequency, not used in the USA.

Keep in mind, it's analog, no way to activate it. But it will still illuminate and make noise.

i swear i threw like 3 of those away just this past winter. i figured who the hell would want a non function phone.. i could have at least gave them to someone..

Yeah, they are a very selective market; I want one just cause its got a big "swag" factor IMO;

I mean.. Who else has a phone in their car..?? Lol
Even though it doesn't work, it's like heated seats; a borderline pointless option, but you just have to have them!

I really enjoy my heated seats in the winter! Wish BMW did a heated version of the M sports wheel!
