1997 1.9l auto
for all the info .......... George.....
The fact that it burns oil will not keep it from driving 300 miles. When you stop for gas check the oil and top it off. But check the other fluids like trans and antifreeze to make sure they are where they should be. Also check the brake fluid, The fact that the speedometer does not work is not a problem you will have to guess your speed based on cars around you. As far as the head job a machine shop can do this for maybe 800.00 Don't know about prices in your area. Hope this helps.
From the looks of the rear bumper I'd say it's a '74 not a'73.
1 quart every 500 miles seems like a pretty significant amount to burn with no smoke at all. I'd venture to say it's doesn't necessarily burn oil, but rather leaks oil.
I had an e38 that burned less oil than that, and it smoked pretty bad on startup, and went through a set of plugs about once a week.
That car is def not going to make it that trip, don't buy it.
What's his contact number?
Just kidding, looks like a pretty good deal IMO even with excessive oil consumption. You do seem a little paranoid about the car though, it's 40 years old, it's gonna have issues. Doesn't necessarily mean it needs babied, just a simple oil check every time you get gas assuming you fill up.

awesome deal if you're into it.

That looks like a great deal! Now if there was an E9 for $2000 in that kind of shape...haha

That's looks like a nice E3. Hope it goes to an enthusiast.
Can you drive without a front bumper and not get pulled over? Apparently so in Ca but in Ma they would tow it out from under you.
