you really can't go wrong w/ the oem vcg sets that pelican has. i ordered the victor reinz ones myself. don't forget the valve cover nut seals. while you have everything open, you might as well change the spark plugs & coil boots if they have not been done in awhile.
    cheers,

    Cool

77K just this month - and I dont think the previous owner did anything other than top off the gas. But even though it looks clean from the outside... I gotta take care of the insides

    - Probably going to be doing VCG + Spark Plugs at once.
    - I didn't know coil boots would need replacement

I am pretty sure Reinz is the OEM supplier to BMW of those gaskets and many others.
Buy OEM and you will see Reinz written on the gaskets along with the BMW logo. That was my case in my car.
But as mentioned they probably have a few different ones...

OEM is typically Victor Reinz or Elring Klinger depending on supply and contract period.

If price is +/- a few dollars go with Victor Reinz or Elring Klinger or OEM (could be either of the two).

for the period of time of the 530i i think the manufacturer was elring kingler.
my ex single vanos was victor reinz and i dont know i feel like those victor reinz hold up better, my 96 528i and 98 didnt have any leaking valve covers with their original gaskets, and my 2001 530i is leaking like a mofo so im going victor reinz

I think Victor Reinz seems to be the conclusion.

Did you guys go with the same brand for the Valve Cover Nut Seals?

I would definitely do the coil boots. Those are your 'spark plug wires' for a car with coil on plug setup. It is often over looked but an important part of the ignition system.

Won't have a problem with either of those brands mentioned as the OEM.

If any one is wondering how much a dealer is gonna charge them roughly, $366 is what they quoted me for VCG.

Anyone know part #'s for the hoses?

Btw, I got these quotes done when they charged me $150 for alignment.. and they stole that from me, because my car still steers left all the time.

    (Prd. 5/96) 528i.
I currently have a Victor Reinz VCG which was replaced 5 years ago and now at 51k on this gasket. It is starting to leak oil on the corners and shows signs of oil in the plug holes. What's the typical life on these gaskets?
