So I was looking under my hood today and I took a really good look and found 2 wires that are not connected to anything and the car runs fine no lights beside the abs and brake pad witch I need to reset
Replaced coolant reservoir. Car is leaking coolant when I turn it off. Return line from top right radiator to reservoir is snug and leak free. Coolant drops from lower radiator hose. I'll have to check that connection.
Oil change
Pulled the old sagging headliner off and glued on some new fabric.
Before:
This is under direct/brightest light to show all imperfections. Didn't come out perfect but a million times better than it was.
Letting it sit overnight before I install it. This is how I expect it to look once installed due to less direct light on it.
Made the maiden voyage to work after trans replacement #2 ... 60 miles round trip, didn't miss a beat. I did realize that my exhaust is far too loud .. so that may have to be swapped for something quieter.
Tonight I did the valve cover as plugs 1 and 2 were submerged in oil. Whoever owned the car put literally a pound of silicone everywhere ... made cleaning a real joy.
Also swapped out the Bosch Iridium plugs for NGK BKR6E coppers.

Found my old 325is in a local junkyard.
It got wrecked back in July.
If the transmission hadn't been going bad at the time, I would've kept it & rebuilt the car.
I still regret not keeping it.
'98 328i couldn't start hardly, down on power like crazy, especially lower RPM's, pulled codes and crankshaft sensor was bad. It was slowly starting to get worse and worse. Replaced both cam and crankshaft sensors as well as the new wiring that goes with the crankshaft. Car starts better than ever and I have my power back. Oh can't wait to drive it tomorrow!
Today I had the awesome surprise of the bracket breaking off of the rear window rail in the drivers door. Caused the window to shift and bend the regulator, which then caused excessive force on the motor which in turn caused the plastic case to crack. So a little spot welded bracket just cost a: Rail, Regulator, Motor, and track bushes. Oh joy oh joy.

Today I decided to fix the trunk harness since the trunk light stopped working. I am amazed at how bad the wiring was. Cracked and completely falling apart.

Sold it! It was actually sad to see it pull away with someone else at the wheel but hopefully I can get something fun to replace it that I can actually take the family in...
Replaced the fuel filter. I started the project thinking it would be like all the other threads on the topic - inline fuel filter under driver's side floorboard. Turned out I'm blessed to have a '94. Damn thing was near impossible to get at. Sits in a low cradle near the oil dip stick on the driver's side firewall. Epic fail for a fuel filter design location. Vertical position ensures you dump a full canister of fuel on your face and front suspension before you can remove it. And removal/re-install is an act of origami.
Pulled my cluster out to replace a blown wedge bulb and realized I need 4 of the small black base bulbs.
Crossing my fingers and hoping I don't actually have an ABS or Airbag fault. I did pass NYS inspection not too long ago but I'm not sure if the OBD2 scan would pick that up or cause a fail if it did.
It's been a while since I worked at a shop that does NYSI's but I do recall the airbag light does NOT fail inspection. The ABS light I don't remember tbh but I don't think you'll fail for it.
Airbag doesn't fail because it's a secondary safety item IIRC, if your seat belt didn't buckle then you'd fail as that's the primary safety item trying to save your life in the event of a crash.

Good to know, thanks! I double checked them all with a meter this morning, the ABS light is actually fine, just darkening so I assumed it was blown. Looks like I'm ok there. Airbag is definitely blown so well see what happens this weekend when I pull the cluster out again. Not fun without a tilt wheel but I'm able to pull it out safely without having to remove the wheel at least.
Have to coolant flush from water to 50/50 in expectations of below freezing temps.. Parking shotgun in a nice old barn, roadhouse style, until spring melt.
Nobody would recertify these machines after somebody screwed with them without any visibility into what they did.
