Actually, I used the rubber strip that goes on the bottom of a garage door. They come in 9' pieces. Apply good two-sided tape, and press around the front edge. I cut V notches at the points where it bends the most. I then jacked the car up and put in self-tapping screws and washers about every 12". It took 30 minutes tops.
It's not about getting from point A to B, it's about every curve in between.

It was a POR-15 day.
I had Reiger side skirts ages ago which required rubberized glue for attachment. But I rock M3 skirts now and took them off for repainting and decided to remove the glue and POR-15 the rockers to prevent any rust in the future. The sideskirts will be repainted soon and no one will ever see what's under them, but a little extra preventative efforts against rust are well worth it.

18 Button OBC Conversion! Mine was the 11 button unit, so the check control wiring was already there. I also installed the turn signal stalk with the button to scroll through the functions.

Also performed a compression test. My car has 236k on it, and still has the original head gasket and vanos, from what I can tell. Runs very strong still, yet I was still surprised at how good these compression numbers came back. I turned the motor over 5-6 times for each cylinder, and I'm 390~ feet above sea level.

My original side skirts were rusting, as well as the section below the window cowl, and even some fender rust. I jacked 'er up and slathered POR 15 not only on the rust but as far back on both sides of my undercarriage as I could reach, then coated below the cowls and replaced those. I'd never heard of this stuff until a buddy bought me a can a few months ago. Time will tell, but it appears to be the real deal.
BTW, on the top of the can it warns you not to get it on your skin, because "the only thing that will remove it is time." Truer words have never been printed.

The wheel gap tells the difference. Good job.

There is a brief window where mineral spirits will work as well, but after that yeah, only time. Well, abrasives work too, but are decidedly uncomfortable.
Fortunately it is similarly tenacious on surfaces you meant to paint as well. I did the fuel filter cover on my M3 a few thousand miles ago, and it's still glossy. Dirt doesn't stick to it well, so as long as you keep the UV off (turns chalky gray but still stays on) it will stay looking great.

Continued my suspension overhaul...a quick run to the hardware store for two nuts should be all I need to move on to the brakes and then getting the thing back on the road.
Yeah, I am a huge fan of the stuff after using it several times. I've even coated an engine block and its still perfectly fine after 3-4 years.
On the E36 I did the inner fender wells all around, and I'm planning to do both rockers, the bottom of the car and the battery compartment.
I don't have any real rust at all, but I've seen these things rotted out and I just want to prevent any chance of that.
Stuff definitely does not come off skin. HA! Gloves.

The last couple of days have been the first time I've had a desire to use the AC in the six months I've owned my 325i. Naturally it blew hot air but I could hear the compressor attempt to engage so I bought some r134a to give it a boost. Once the can was drained and I verified the vents were at least blowing colder air (needs another can to fill to capacity) and that temps weren't looking crazy (bc E36 cooling system). When I shut off the car I heard a hissing sound and discovered this:

Limited visibility and I couldn't really manage to get my hand in there so I couldn't determine if the leak was coming from that sensor or somewhere else. Right after I stopped filming I did see a drip to the right of the sensor so it was either accumulated from spraying out or the true source of the leak. Never leaked any coolant before this foray into AC so I'll likely just drive without until I get access to my brother's lift (or a jack). Anyone else have ideas based on that terrible video?
I believe those wires go to the Aux fan. Meaning the leak is from something else.

That's what I figured but have never had the front apart
Finally tackled the starter. I had been avoiding it for a little while. People say this is a hard job, but honestly you don't need to remove the transmission or intake manifold to do it. Starts like it's brand new now! Pics for fun. Believe it or not, this needs a detail. That will happen this weekend.

Fixed the A/C. Wasn't getting power to the compressor. Checked fuse 39, it was blown. Replaced and it blew again. Replaced the relay... life is good and cold.
Lime Rock Park... the most fun you can have in a mile and a half.
If only we could all be so lucky lol. After my issue yesterday that I posted about I'm prepping the car for sale; can't deal with trying to get my wife to understand the concept of maintenance costs anymore with this car and not being able to install our children's car seats really sucks.
Power steering flush. Along with a post road trip interior and exterior wash. I'm probably going to re-wax within the next few weeks.
Edit: She also just hit 100000km a week or so ago, getting up there. I've only put maybe 15000km on the car since I bought it a few years ago, and it's been stored every winter.

Mourned the death of my original DME. But I was able to source a used one (auto) and my mechanic has the software to align it to my EWS and re-calibrate it for use with a 5-speed.
