hahaha! I finally conquered the GT2 category on SC/GT last night and bought myself the F1..... only problem, its not enough faster in stock form for me to have a prayer on Sebring, or several other tracks, so I have to go back and start over in GT2 (GTQ won't win enough money and I sold my GT3 car to finance the GT2 mods)..... gaaa!

oh well, I'm starting to understand all you Grand Tourismo addicts now....

Mr Project

I ran qualifying laps at SS 11 last night for about half an hour until I could come in first more than once....I had to trim 9 seconds off my initial times. I got it, though! So, I started the race, and had a 1.8 second lead starting lap 2/2. Then I spun hardcore on the first turn (Never even did that in qualifying). Lost 6 seconds. Turned it off, and went back to your book, J.

Sigh.

need to drop a turd....

Mr Project
02-03-2005, 11:57 AM
Yeah, my main focus in GT3 now is just to make 40,000 so I can buy my uber-RX-7 from Justin. I will win that stupid SS 11 race with my girlie car, though.

Dark Helmet
02-03-2005, 12:36 PM
man, put the money into the girlie car and it will be SO MUCH EASIER TO WIN!!!!

I have a PTG E36 M3 (GT2), some other low-rent M3 (GTQ) that is totally bastardized (I went about upgrading it all wrong, going to redo that tonight... I hope.), and the F1, I THINK if I get my GTQ car all maxed on the upgades it will be fast enough for GT3... that series is the best money for the time spent.... you only get 300-grand for sweeping GTQ, its about 600 for GT3 IIRC. its gotta be over a million for GT2, which I didn't win, I was second in points and still had a final-race tally of over 900K and I started with like 5K. but there are two totally hiddeous tracks in that series that I cannot sort out.... and one that I can't get teh car set-up for.

finally got to run mossport and totally OWNED the field,

Mossport, Limerock, Road Atlanta, all great fun, and Mossport is really pretty easy, you just need HUGE downforce. I can't wait to get the F1 on Mossport and Laguna Seca....

btw, justin still owns me throught he corkscrew, but the rest of Laguna Seca I have down pretty well....

Sebring and Hockenheim are teh new tracks for GT1.... should be interesting...

Dark Helmet
02-03-2005, 12:38 PM
and badeer, we need to figure out who is constantly calling the police on the E28, its been "marked" twice in the past week with the "parking warning" last time it had only been there ONE DAY.

Mojo325is
02-03-2005, 12:39 PM
ah, gotta love the fuzz...

The LPD knew me oh too well during my days in South Lincoln, our neighbors smoked so much dope I thought they were Rastafarians......and then I would call da fuzz and watch them get busted each and every time...they were too stupid to figure out that it was me and my roommate each time.

Dark Helmet
02-03-2005, 12:40 PM
that's bad man... REALLY bad....

Mojo325is
02-03-2005, 12:47 PM
Hey, I don't care if people smoke da dope, but when they do it and my apartment smells like a 50 Cent concert, I got problems....they would sit outside in the summer on their porch and smoke all night and my window in my bedroom was about 5 feet from the porch, in the winter, they would smoke inside and it would seep through the walls.

Dark Helmet
02-03-2005, 12:52 PM
where did you live???????

Mojo325is
02-03-2005, 12:57 PM
the mighty ghetto of 31st and Old Cheney.....

they were a bunch of punks and the whole floor was happy when they left. The coolest thing was there was an old lady who lived on our floor, she was the floor Grandma, she baked us cookies and pies all the time, it was awesome.

Dark Helmet
02-03-2005, 01:15 PM
that's right, hahaha... smoking weed out back behind the mormon church... PRICELESS!!!!

anyway, back to videogames.

Mr Project
02-03-2005, 01:17 PM
floor grandmas = teh rockin'est. Much better than those wall and ceiling grandmas.

J, every penny spent on the girlie car is one penny further away from a 760HP fully modded FD (an FD that can outrun C5-Rs). I'm not just a cheapskate in real life, you know. :)

I did buy brakes for the girlie car, though...stock brakes don't do well from 150-60 on turn one.

Dark Helmet
02-03-2005, 01:18 PM
I'm struggling to choose my next GT3 car (the class, not the game)... the 911 RSR was a catastrophe, I couldn't keep it stable under heavy braking, but it was psycho-fast. there is an M3, but that's getting old, there is a Vector W12 in GT2, but not in GT3... and I don't think the panoz is available other than in GTQ....

the GT1 cars are wicked though, 911 GT1, F1 GTR, CLK GTR (wonder if it flies like the real ones...?). There are some mustangs in GT2 adn GT3, but, eh, no.

hmmmmmmmmm, this day is turning out to be REALLY productive....

Mr Project
02-03-2005, 01:20 PM
Go with the P-car. You can dial out the craziness, I bet. Then you just have to drive it like it wants to kill you...like any other rear-engine-snap-oversteer-don't-you-even-think-about-trail-braking car. :D

that's at least an improvement.... IIRC you did suspension as well, stage 1 turbo, and the transmission.

you still on sport tires, that's really the only money left to spend IMO, power isn't going to do much for you....

and you need to be saving REAL money so you can get that wheel that greg has... its p-i-m-p.

btw, I'm bringing my laptop and a projector from work... :D:D:D

Mr Project
02-03-2005, 01:25 PM
No need on the projector....I've got that covered. :D

I set up 'rig 2' last night on a table and played some. Works well, and the 40" screen is kinda nice. :D

The Miata has had a few upgrades since you saw it... we did...
Stage 2 turbo (246ish)
Medium race tires

With the brakes, it's just enough to turn 2:15ish at SS 11, if you REALLY drive it.

Mr Project
02-03-2005, 01:34 PM
BTW, GT4 release date is 2/22/05, official.

I'm taking the projector home tonight just to "trouble-shoot" make sure the laptop is all kosher.... and I need to get the F1 up to spec so you guys can drive it....

Mojo325is
02-03-2005, 05:44 PM
kosher, reminds me, I need to watch a Mel Brooks movie soon for funny points....

Mr Project
02-04-2005, 08:53 AM
So, Jeremy, what are you thinking for Sunday? I'm going to have 2 PS2s set up in the basement with projectors at this point (if I can keep the power supply working on the one projector...), and we'll have the game on the telly, in case anybody cares. :) Are you thinking of bringing the laptop/projector to have a SCGT game running, too?

Adam, if you don't have plans for the game this sunday, you really should consider coming down. It's going to be a real driving game-fest. :D

Mojo325is
02-04-2005, 08:59 AM
Armen--
Let me check with the 'better half' although with me going down to Lincoln tomorrow for the basketball game and then again twice next week, she might not like that too much.... :devillook you know how imperative it is to keep the ladies happy, fed and in the loop.....

Mr Project
02-04-2005, 09:56 AM
I do indeed.....no pressure, but if you can, we'd love to have you.

Dark Helmet
02-04-2005, 11:38 AM
yeah, SCGT will be there, I got it up and running last night, its all good.

I thought you guys might like some F1 action... I didn't get a chance to work on it last night other than getting the projector running...

Dark Helmet
02-04-2005, 11:53 AM
you can add a $300K turbo to the McLaren.....hmmmmmm.

Nicadymous

Dark Helmet
02-04-2005, 03:27 PM
GAAAA! no love!

did I tell you we got my mom's old jeep back?

Nicadymous
02-04-2005, 03:28 PM
yeah you did. is she getting the seats replaced?

Dark Helmet
02-04-2005, 03:30 PM
1) its schudel's car, its pristine.

2) its rare, very rare. IIRC its the least-common color made in 95, the only year it was made (well, only year it was imported, IIRC 94 and 95 M5s were available in that color, but they were not imported in those years).

3) the 95 has a year-specific engine, takes well to basic bolt-ons, or any mods for that matter, but tends to be more expensive if you blow it up... which brings me to 4)

4) Mike blew up the motor (money shift) about 2 years ago, and paul replaced the whole bloody engine IIRC.

5) only drawback: its purple.

Dark Helmet
02-04-2005, 03:30 PM
yeah you did. is she getting the seats replaced?

eventually, I'm driving it right now... but sometime this summer when I have a few minutes I'll take the time to actually order the seat foam and pull them apart...

Had an interesting weekend. Super Bowl was ruined when a found out that I have a 90% likelihood of ending up in Iraq by the end of the year. Makes it a little hard to enjoy a football game, unless it is the 1997 College Championship game :D

Mojo325is

yeah, and watching Payton Manning get a boot up his ass!

Nicadymous
02-08-2005, 10:16 AM
Not a fan of Payton, eh Mojo?

Mojo325is
02-08-2005, 10:49 AM
Here's what I think of Payton Manning...

He's the greatest NFL quarterback of my/our generation to not win the big one...he's our Dan Marino.

My GF doesn't particularly care for the NFL, I'm not a huge fan, but I enjoy watching truly amazing players, such as Manning.

Example: we were watching the Vikings/Colts on MNF a few months ago. Colts are driving, she wants to watch something else on the tube. I said 'Honey, just watch number 18, he's one of the best. Watch him do something amazing.'

Ol' Payton calls an audible at the line and threads a needle to Reggie Wayne. 6 Points.

He just can't seem to win the big one, he couldn't in college, and he can't in the NFL. The Colts had just as much talent, if not more than any other NFL team this year, but couldn't get to the Super Bowl.....

Dark Helmet
02-08-2005, 12:06 PM
hey O, bummer you couldn't make the game, not that we watched that much of it anyway!

as for Peyton... hell of a QB, and a decent human being as well. his comments following said 97 championship game were classic: "even if we were teh second most physical team out there, we still weren't prepared for the speed and power that they came with, nothing can prepare you for that." or somesuch.

Dark Helmet
02-08-2005, 12:06 PM

Mr Project
02-08-2005, 12:49 PM

Dark Helmet
02-08-2005, 02:13 PM
I can totally see that... nice!

02-09-2005, 10:17 AM
Ended up with 4 to 6 inches, depending on which side of KC you are on. This morning there was a 6 car pile up with a roll over on the interstate that made the drive interesting. Other than that got out of the snow without too many problems.

Dark Helmet
02-09-2005, 11:19 AM
good lord, how do you get a rollover on the interstate in snow.... makes no sense... in a ditch, sure. not on the highway.

Mojo325is
02-09-2005, 12:19 PM
not too bad here, probably three inches max....

going to KC in 2 weeks with teh ladyfriend to see my best friend and his wifey....good times will be had by all....

Mr Project
02-09-2005, 01:14 PM
Yeah, I think I got 3-4 inches, but it was lightweight, so removal was easy. 'Course the snowblower helps, too. :D

Heard it got bad near GI yesterday... 8 semis and 4 cars in one accident. Oops. Not too hard to believe the way semis tend to drive in this stuff...

And, mafia, for anyone who has known you as long as I have, knows that the new avatar is exactly the right fit for you.

You are the only guy I know who used to get up before the butt-crack of dawn (see the visual above) to get to work at a car wash that underappreciated the value of the service you provided, but managed to find the job acceptable after downing a can of Mountain Dew.

I don't know how we ever managed.

But more importantly I don't know how that placed managed without us.

sometimes I wondered if he was too nice to manage a business like that

that was a foregone conclusion way back when Bradley started working there.... B used to do 160-200 cars a day... 10-hours on the Island non-stop.... alone. no help.

THAT is how you make money at that spot.

oh well. such is life.

I was wondering, do you know how many horses a McLaren F1 GTR w/a turbo would put out? And how much torque?

Dark Helmet

never been done.... in theory you could put out in excess of 1500hp without much trouble. but completely re-building it would be a huge outlay because the compression is too high.

Well, we can all dream

Dark Helmet

yeah... not to mention that there is almost NO way to deal with the heat, you'd end up spending as much re-building a million dollar car as you paid for it in the first place... when you could buy a Dinan TT 850i for like a tenth of that....

ouch. I think my money would be better spent elsewhere. Assuming I had the money in the first place.

yeah... exactly....

Where did you get the Dianan 850iTT from? Similarities to McLaren F1 GTR = 4 wheels, 12 cylinders with BMW logo. That's about it. :D

Turbo BMW V12..... definitely cheaper than a custom mclaren... seriously, where you gonna put the intercoolers?????

not to mention heat management....
