I signed up for that "mishimoto loves drifters" sponsorship program and got in. It's a hefty discount on all their shit. Glad I didn't pick up that oil cooler stuff yet.

All they really require is a 2x20 sticker on your car. Which, IMO, is pretty small.

What'd u do to get them?

I've heard few different stories of ways ppl get sponsored, from knowing someone, to just sounding like a personable gent. to represent their company with a good name and lots of fun

Mishimoto was just http://www.mishimotolovesdrifters.com/2010_01_01_archive.html and signed up

Moore was me knowing a guy and them trying to get some of the race market (going from a general shop to race stuff on the side).

DIY was me asking nicely a bunch of times and driving an E30. DIY seems to like E30s. and FCs

Hmm. Might have to give mishimoto a try once I get my car to some sort of worthy standing of a BMW.

As you said though, tire sponsor would be the money maker there

Yea someone to mount/balance tires for free would be nice. Cost on tires would be good too. I need to approach my local Mr. Tire soon.

Yea, I want to get into a few comps or least get the concept going nicely, there's not too many areas to practice here, but I am also completely refreshing the entire car. I'd rather not have something break due to my looking over while at a comp to practice

I have buddy here least that'll mount and balance for $20. All 4, or 5, whatever u have really. Just charges $20

Nice

I just got a new job in a performance part shop until I finish my welding course. I have free used tires, "cost price" on everything (wheels, tires, parts...) and I can mount/balance tires for free. :D

oh is it?

It's pretty simple, you get a certain amount off of MSRP. But no one pays MSRP. So lets say a radiator from mishi is $200 MSRP. Mishimoto loves drivers will give it to you for $150! Well regular online stores sell it for around $!50 as well. I will admit some things have nice mark downs. But the most you're saving is like $10 a part. Adds up but isn't as awesome as I originally thought.
